Google Radio Waves Coming To Your Local Station

Google RadioYou might want to hold onto your MP3 files and CDs for just awhile longer, because your local radio station is about to play Google Adwords commercials. Yesterday, the company announced that it would be selling advertising to over 730 radio stations in nearly 260 metropolitan US markets, with the intention signing up 5,000 additional stations in the coming months.

Twenty pre-selected Adwords customers have been chosen for the test advertisement run. These Adword accounts have a new “audio ads” tab that lets advertisers bid on air sports and target the advertisements based on geography, station, and time of day.  Ads are currently going for between $100 and $300.
Google advertising is shifting its focus everywhere and at an extremely rapid and alarmingly frightening pace. Just a few weeks ago, Google launched an initiative to advertise in newspapers, and shortly thereafter, Google forged a successful partnership with Verizon for the display of YouTube videos.

That brings me to the question — will Google stop there? What about giving out free gifts like a digital frame that plays ads while you stare at your loved ones?

what ever happened to those trucks with billboards that drove around the city? maybe it was adding to the already ridiculous traffic…road traffic to web traffic.
