Hello Patrick, But I do not agree with u 100%..bcz to get traffic by content it self we have to give good meta tags, tags so that people can search easily..After that once people started coming we can concentrate on the content part.. But for companies I will say it will work wonderfully(content), if it is a branded company but for blogs..i do not think so..What is ur view??

Effective contests favor the companies organizing them and the winners. But somehow I think it's exploitative to business people who participated and didn't win any prize or recognition. I wonder if it's worthwhile or not to participate in.

I work for a financial news company and we’re trying some new things out with contests – but its relevant to our core audience. Its also intriguing to see people who are not our core audience come and play also.

I have tried them on my blog and on other “contest” blogs and you get a ton of coments, hits on your blog, your site – then nada, nothing. They go away – they are not your core audience, nor are they readers that want to read my blog. I think give aways and contests work sometimes. Sinc most of my readers are other entrepreneurs what the heck do they want with one of my knick-knacks, they make their own.
