One thing that always grinds my gears a bit is when a person reverts to over the top annoyance just to have their story seen and forget the rules of humanity in the meantime. To really help identify these users and why they are annoying, I wrote a post over at Search Engine Land entitled The 6 Types of Annoying Social Media Promoters.

Using social media to promoter yourself needs careful consideration. Its ok to shout when you have something relevant and purposeful to shout about. Constantly ranting and pushing the same message down peoples throats will have an adverse effect!
I Do agree with you we as social media experts should respect the target audience and understand the feeling and expectations of our followers as social media optimization is all about brand building, knowledge sharing . I personally like this article it bring up some interesting points
