In these modern times your phone is more than just a phone. If it is like mine, it is smart. It goes out to dinner with me, in fact, it probably made the reservations. It keeps me connected to my friends and family through Facebook or email and that other thing… what is it, oh yeah- the phone. That’s why I get a bit stressed if I loose it momentarily.
Applications for my phone make all these tasks so much easier or rather possible. I am a graphic designer and artist so I geek out for new apps that cater to my interests around art and design. Here are some that I either use, am installing now, or will be using next time you see me out at the park or restaurant or anyplace that finds me away from my desktop.
Photoshop
FREE It is everywhere, now on your smartphone. Good for minor, quick edits on the go and ease of sharing.

Love, Love, LOVE!!! Thanks for sharing Pat! I’m sure graphic designers from all over will find this very useful.
Thanks Thao! I am an App Geek for sure- some of these are used daily by me
Thanks for sharing it! Now I may edit photos in the bus!
Ha! Yes, exactly- just don’t miss your stop.
What about smartphones that aren’t Apple branded, aye?
*letdown*
Yes, this surely is not a complete list. Some work on other smartphones. What do you use Aleks?
I used to have an iPhone, but now I have a Samsung Galaxy S – which I have the Photohop.com app installed on.
I haven’t looked for any other apps yet. I think Android is lacking a bit
What made you decide to go for the Samsung over keeping/getting another iphone?
Thao,
Open market and true multi-tasking.
I was getting frustrated with my iphone a while back b/c it didn’t have the muti-tasking capability. But now it does and things seem to be working well. Now the other issue I have with it is that people still haven’t learned not to use flash on their websites and thus, preventing users like me from getting the whole experience. :-/
i though this post was about appz for smartphones, not just the bloddy iphone
I believe that Photoshop is available on other smartphones, maybe within the AT&T family however.
The article is for graphic designers. If you are not using mac branded product, how dare you presume you need any creative apps. Now go watch some Flash to calm down. Sent from my HTC DESIRE.
PREACH!
No list is complete without the Hipstamatic app.
Great call rickdelux, it is like having a mini Holga in your pocket! I will have to include that in version 2 of this post. What else do you use?
I’m sorry, how is this a list of apps for smartphones? I own an android phone, you don’t have any android apps listed, and what about blackberry owners, or Windows mobile (well, nobody cares about wm, but Windows phone seven will be better, much better).
You need to change the title of this post from the deceiving smartphones to just iPhone.
I certainly did not mean to mislead you Don. Thanks for the tip!
Just found this great inspirational APP from MOMA: http://www.coolhunting.com/tech/moma-app.php
Very interesting!
Thanks! For sharing.
From Bs. As argentina.
Great post – thanks!
@Don – a graphic designer with an Android phone? kidding mostly …
Most of them are for iPhone, are they for BlackBerry?
Blackberry has some similar apps, like Photo Screen instead of Photoshop.
The Photoshop app is great.
check out this great app as well.
Graphic Design Quiz.

The app keeps track of the users score. The hi-score is “guru design”. The user can post the score on facebook as well.
