At some point it ends up snowballing organically. I made a video for a youtube contest, and with VERY LITTLE effort promoting it; getting it on the front page of digg's video section, on some blogs, and some forums, it made it to the 2nd round of the contest, and had the most views of any of the videos in amount of time it was up. This led to tv stations (it was aired on G4TV), a radio station, and several other people contacting me about it. it’s all about ultilizing the networks together and getting it out through as many as possible.
