Yesterday was a very special day for the BlueGlass Marketing team. When planning the BlueGlass TPA conference, we put together some very specific goals …
- Get together some of the best speakers & experts in the SEO & social media industry to be on BlueGlass sessions and panels – DONE!
. - Put together an amazing agenda of knowledge filled sessions, entertaining poolside networking events & a stellar menu that feeds the belly & the mind — DONE!
. - Simplify our conference to an intimate group of 50 registered attendees (not including the speakers & BlueGlass team members) and secure those 50 registrations a month before the conference — DONE (early)!
Yesterday we hit all of the goals that BlueGlass set out to do while planning BlueGlass TPA. In many ways, this conference is reflective to the many, many events & changes that have happened over the past year at BlueGlass. When we hit that 50 ticket mark yesterday, we hit one more milestone on the road to sustainable growth and realistic expectations. Although BlueGlass has held three conferences in the past 15 months, we have never profited from them. In fact, we’ve done quite the opposite and lost money on each one!
However, in the end our goal is to come close to breaking even on our conference registrations and make sure that we help the online marketing industry and our attendees profit with shared knowledge, experience and long lasting business relationships.
So yesterday when we saw we hit #50, I called the DoubleTree, set up an urgent meeting, hopped in my car and sped across Tampa to talk to their catering & events managers (I got to the DoubleTree right before they got off at 5 pm!) and put together a new plan to be able to expand BlueGlass TPA.
This meant I had to do a little wheelin’ & dealin’ with their team, but we sealed the deal with catering (to make sure we have enough really good food) and A/V (need to secure the wifi & extra power strips) and BAM!!… we signed off on opening up 25 more seats to BlueGlass TPA!
After holding a number of conferences and some trial & error, we’ve learned something about the hospitality industry & scalability –> No more reserving the entire Hotel & Club hoping to sell out!!
To make it official: BlueGlass TPA has now opened up 25 more seats for registration! The price point on these seats has increased as they are our final seats but if you look around, you may be able to find some discounts that were given out before we realized we were going to sell out so quickly… hint hint ;)
