Fonts for the Web: What Works Best?

Fonts for the Web: What Works Best?

So many fonts on the Web to chose from, but what is the best? This depends on many variables such as availability, readability, character and application. What is the feeling or style you want to convey to the reader? Is it fun and friendly or formal and old fashioned? Does it have to be smaller than a certain point size or is it for headlines? Is it live text or an image? There are two basic types of fonts, Serifs and Sans-Serifs. For the purpose of this post I will get into web-safe fonts within these two font families.

Video Interview: Jonah Stein and Social Media Spam

I forgot that I had one more SES San Jose video interview in my arsenal, so here it is for your viewing pleasure! (See SES, I’m like a gift that keeps on giving.) I caught up with Jonah Stein, goliath blogger and SEO from It’s the ROI, to chat about the prevalence and impact of spam in social media, the notion of “black hat” social media and SEO, and to unveil a new term called “white knight SEO,” which “aims to protect users from scams by dominating organic search results with consumer protection information.”

The September ‘09 Social Media Hot Topic List

The September ‘09 Social Media Hot Topic List

Last month I started a “Social Media Hotlist” that contained hot topics for the month. Ideally you could use this to help aid in linkbait and content creation for social media. By looking at some of the topics and finding a way to relate to your field, you can harness the momentum of that topic and hopefully get more traction! Here’s what will be hot on social media this September!

Wine Tasting with Social Media

Wine Tasting with Social Media

Before I attended SES San Jose, I went to Napa Valley for a couple days to do some wine tasting and check out their many vineyards. While I was there, I was pleasantly surprised to see that a few wineries were starting to use social media for marketing and branding. I also noticed that the wineries that were tapped into social media marketing seemed to be the nicest and had the best customer service.
